The tribes of Hawazin and Thaqif gathered 20,000 fighters against Muslims. Some Muslims became overconfident due to their numbers.

The Muslims were initially overwhelmed. The Prophet ﷺ stood firm and called: 'I am the Prophet, no lie! I am the son of Abdul-Muttalib!'
