Retreat to Cave Hira

The Prophet ﷺ would retreat to Cave Hira for contemplation. At age 40, during Ramadan, the Angel Jibril came to him with the first revelation.

Jibril said: 'Read!' The Prophet replied: 'I cannot read.' Then came: 'Read in the name of your Lord who created...' (Surah Al-Alaq 96:1-5)

Return to Khadijah

The Prophet ﷺ returned home trembling. Khadijah comforted him: 'By Allah, Allah will never disgrace you. You uphold ties of kinship, speak truth, and help the poor.'

Warakah's Confirmation

Khadijah took him to her cousin Warakah ibn Nawfal, a Christian scholar. Warakah confirmed: 'This is the same Law (Angel) that came to Musa (AS).'
